Oil Painting
with JOAN HUMBLE

These classes will cover the basics of good painting. These are tonal values, mixing and the use of colour, good composition, and different techniques of applying paint. These classes are suitable for students of all stages of learning and new students will be assisted to progress at their own level and pace.
Watercolour for Beginners

Do you find the idea of painting in watercolour daunting and you don't know where to start? This course is for you! This course is for beginners in watercolour painting, or for those who are returning to watercolour and want a refresher. Leanne will gently guide you through the basics of working with watercolour and help you build your confidence.
Watercolour and More

This course is suitable for people with some experience in watercolour painting. In this course we will be looking at a variety of subjects including still life, wildlife and the landscape. Along with traditional painting techniques, we will explore some exciting and non-traditional approaches that will introduce you to the wider possibilities of watercolour. Each week I will demonstrate new subjects and techniques for you to try, provide a great range of reference materials to inspire you, and give you guidance and support as you paint your own works.
Painting with Friends -All Media
Tuesdays 1.30 pm to 3:30 pm
(2 hour sessions)

Cost: $50 ($5 per session)

Painting with Friends groups meet together in a supportive environment to continue their art, encouraging and learning from each other. These groups are untutored. Participants share their experiences and enjoy the company of fellow artists in an informal atmosphere. Members are welcome to stay until 4.30pm if a key holder is available to lock up the studio.
Contemporary Painting in Oils or Acrylics
with AMBER KOROLUK-STEPHENSON
Wednesdays 9.30am to 12.30pm

These classes will focus on contemporary oil and acrylic painting techniques, encourage students to explore a variety of painting styles, considering ways that colour relationships, texture, form, and perspective can make bold, playful and visually dynamic works.
Classes will cover basic tonal values, colour theory and mixing, and ways different types of paint brushes and painting methods can create different effects. This will involve class discussions, tutor demonstrations, individual production time, and one-to-one time between the tutor and students.
Contemporary Painting in Oil and Acrylic classes are suitable for students at all stages of learning, and new students will be assisted to progress at their own level and pace as they develop their own approaches to painting.

Botanical Drawing
with TANYA SCHARASCHKIN

This course will suit anyone interested in observational drawing and natural history illustration even if plants are not their preferred subject matter. Participants are not expected to have any prior drawing or botanical experience.
Basic drawing techniques will be covered using plants as the subject matter. Participants will be guided through the process of observing and drawing plants accurately. Plants will be examined carefully and fundamental botanical terminology will be explained. By the end of the course, participants should feel comfortable drawing botanical subjects, have developed practical knowledge of different drawing techniques, and developed close observational skills.
Animal Portraits in Pastels

This 4 week course will cover the basics of animal portraits (pets and wildlife) particularly bringing an image or drawing to life with colour, detail and dimension. While the primary focus will be on pastels, the principles can apply to any medium.
Attendees will be provided with demonstrations and mentored in completing their own portraits as part of the course. Participants will be encouraged to develop their own style and to try different approaches such as Pop Art.
The course will cater for the inexperienced as well as intermediate artists.
